It is considered that doing science is not interesting, and the profession of a scientist is not profitable. However, new technologies that are rapidly covering many areas of human life, created precisely by scientists. Without science, a country cannot be called competitive. In order for science to become attractive for young people, it is necessary to create opportunities and platforms where students can express themselves and demonstrate their scientific potential.
Such a popular platform is, by right, a competition among students «Scientists of the Future», the results of which were summed up today in Almaty. The works of twenty young scientists recognized as the best. The winners were awarded diplomas and medals.
The competition of scientific works in the natural, technical and humanitarian areas «Scientists of the Future» has been held since 2008. This is one of the important contests of the Foundation of the First President, aimed at identifying and supporting young scientists of the country.
Participation in this competition motivates Kazakhstan students for professional development. The project also aims to stimulate educational institutions of the country to organize the research work of talented young people.
This year, scientific work sent 237 undergraduate and graduate students from 31 universities in the country. The participants presented 231 research projects – 13 collective and 219 individual works.
The awards were presented to the winners by Sergey Tokhtarov, Director of the Office of the Foundation of the First President in Almaty, Vice-Rector for Social Development of the KazNU, Doctor of Sociology, Professor Sholpan Dzhamanbalayeva, Chairman of the Foundation’s Science Council, Academician of the Academy of Sociologists of Kazakhstan Gulmira Abdiraiymova and Project Manager of the Center for Global Health Research in Central Asia, Master of Social Work at Columbia University Gulnara Zhakupova.
Note that the submitted works of the contestants are relevant on a regional and national scale. The projects of young scientists and researchers are aimed at solving specific scientific and practical problems.
