On the eve of the Main State holiday of the country, in the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, has taken place a solemn presentation of the new book of the Head of State – “Era of Independence”.

It has written in the genre of historical journalism and published in Kazakh and Russian languages, Elbasy’s new work reflects the author’s view of the country’s recent history and its future.

 “This book is dedicated to my people, who always supported to me. The People who confidently go to the future with their own Kazakhstan way!”, – so the President defined, in the epigraph to the book, its content.

Opening the ceremony of the solemn presentation of the new edition, Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed, the First Deputy Chairman of the “Nur Otan” Party has emphasized: “This book can rightly be called an Encyclopedia of Independence written by the Founding Father of our State”.

The book focuses on the characterization of the stages of construction of a new Kazakhstan, the analysis of internal logic and decision-making mechanisms in response to the most difficult internal and external challenges of the first decades of independence.

The book clearly reflects the essence of the “Kazakhstan model” of development, its evolution, basic principles, mechanisms and driving forces. Consideration of three waves of modernization of Kazakhstan takes a big place. Thanks to the First and Second Modernizations, the tasks of dismantling the totalitarian system and building a market economy, early entry into the top 50 most competitive countries of the world were successfully accomplished. The third modernization is aimed at a comprehensive renewal of the country and its promotion among the thirty most developed countries of the world in the face of a new global reality.

The book includes 4 meaningfully saturated sections, covering the entire modern history of our country:

  1. Great overcoming. Start of the Second Modernization of Kazakhstan (1996-1999)
  2. On a steep rise. The second modernization of Kazakhstan (2000-beginning of 2010)
  3. Stated state. The third modernization of Kazakhstan (2010-s)

As the President noted in the preface to the publication, “Our common task – to learn not only to analyze facts and give an objective assessment of events, but also to understand historical processes in their perspective, to see the past through the prism of the present and to think about the future”.

In the names of sections of the book, epoch-making events of modern history and Kazakhstan’s values ​​are depicted in a figurative, precise and capacious way: “The triumph of historical justice”; “A strong, reliable state structure”; “We have saved the main thing – the world”; “New trends and the revival of traditions”, “The creation of foreign policy was going on from scratch”; “Kazakhstani leopard” is preparing to jump; “There must be a new capital!”; “Economic policy and economic stabilization”; “Independence has strengthened our spirit”; “We have withstood the test of the world crisis”; “An unprecedented intellectual renaissance”; “Leadership recognized all over the world”; “Great changes taking place before our eyes”; “A decisive leap towards a new economy”; “The new quality of human capital”; “Kazakhstan’s priorities are clear and unchanged” and many others.

The book details about 33 major results achieved by Kazakhstan during the years of Independence. This is the construction of a modern, powerful state; international legal registration of state borders; a unique model of interethnic and interconfessional harmony; the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site; the formation of a market economy from scratch; own currency – tenge (KZT); construction of a new capital – Astana; creation of modern Armed Forces; large-scale innovative industrialization; social modernization; chairing the OSCE and other authoritative international organizations; Kazakhstan Strategy-2030 Strategy and the Country Development Strategy until 2050; Five institutional reforms; holding the International exhibition EXPO-2017 and many other key achievements of the country, which Kazakhstan rightfully are proud of.

-The current generation of Kazakhstan’s citizens hardly imagines what kind of abysses our young state was at times balancing. But for us, who missed every event of these years through our own lives, one obvious truth is obvious: Kazakhstan managed to overcome this dramatic breakdown of the epochs only thanks to a wise state strategy, the colossal international authority of our President and his absolute popular support, – noted Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed.

In their speeches, they drew the attention of the participants of the presentation to the deep economic, political and social aspects of the history of Independence, reflected in the new edition, the spiritual and cultural component, the historical evaluation of the events outlined in the book, its immense importance in the line of political and social relations.

They expressed confidence that the new book of the President will help the people of Kazakhstan, especially the youth, to better understand and understand the glorious history of the first decades of Independence of our Motherland, to feel pride in the country and make their creative contribution to a better future.

The most important lesson that the history of independent Kazakhstan presents us is that it is possible to reverse any unfavorable trends, to refute any negative forecasts and achieve the most ambitious and lofty goals. The key to success is a constant advance. To make Kazakhstan a highly developed state can only a community of free, progressive citizens. This means that everyone’s standard of life should be broad and deep knowledge, selfless labor, constant self-improvement. So, it’s time again to look forward. To get down to the business.
