07.06.2018 | Applications for participation in the literary contest «Altyn Tobylgy» dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Astana will begin soon!

In the Central Communications Service at a briefing, the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy announced the imminent beginning of applications for the Literary Prize «Altyn Tobylgy» («Golden Tavolga»). The total amount of the bonus fund is 5.5 million tenge.

Applications are accepted from July 1 to November 1, 2018. Winners (winners of the award) will be announced in the first decade of December 2018. Details on the site www.fpp.kz.

The partners of the contest were the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan and the Foundation for the Development of the State Language.

Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Sultan Aitzhanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, Akberen Elgezek, Director of the State Language Development Foundation Azat Shaueyev and winner of the «Altyn Tobylgy» Award – 2016 Tatyana Kretova participated in the event.

The prize «Altyn Tobylgy» annually opens new names in the Kazakh literature, promotes development of interest of the youth and the public to the modern literature reflecting the philosophy of life of the younger generation of authors. This unique event contributes to the implementation of the strategic article of the President  «Bolashakka bagdar: ruhani zhangyru». Nursultan Nazarbayev in his article suggests paying attention to talented and successful contemporaries. The contest «Altyn Tobylgy» sets such goals as supporting the creativity of young writers.

The founder of the contest, the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces a special nomination in the amount of 1.5 million tenge a year. So in 2015 the prize was awarded in the nomination  «Mangilik El», in 2016 the nomination  «25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan» was announced and last year the award was presented to the authors of the works in the special thematic nomination «Tugan El» dedicated to the implementation of the program «Ruhani zhangyru». This year the competition will be held for the fourth time and timed to the 20th anniversary of Astana.

The contest «Altyn Tobylgy» opened 17 new names of young writers from different regions of our country, who received a monetary award and an advantage in publishing their work. Young writers such as Aray Yertargynova from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Tatyana Kretova from Almaty, Makpal Mysa from Almaty region, Elmash Aisulu from Astana, Yesbolat Aydabosyn from Taldykorgan, Kart Merey from Semey city, Alexey Varzayev from Shakhtinsk were recognized as the best. Last year, the works of laureates were issued in a special edition by a separate book.

«The main mission of the Prize is to encourage and support modern Kazakhstani writers. Young writers are given a great opportunity to express themselves and show their literary masterpieces», said Sultan Aitzhanov.

Young Kazakhstan authors aged 18 to 35 are invited to participate in the contest. Only unpublished works are considered.

«Best Prose», «Best Poetry», «Best Drama»,  «Best Children’s work». The winner in each of these four nominations will receive 1 million tenge. The peculiarity of this year’s contest is that a special thematic nomination «The best work dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Astana» was announced. The premium in this nomination is set at 1.5 million tenge.

The jury consisted of famous cultural figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakh writers and journalists.

Competition works will be evaluated according to the following criteria: conformity to the genre, independence of thinking, author’s position, consistency and meaningfulness of the presentation, originality of the idea, literary and artistic merits, imagination and creativity, depth of emotional and aesthetic impact. Objectivity of the evaluation of works submitted to the competition is ensured by the principle of anonymity – reading the work and forming their professional opinion about it, the jury members do not know the author’s name.
